Traidcraft at St John's

Traidcraft Team

Traidcraft has been up and running at St John's for quite a few years. The amount of interest and understanding is constantly increasing.

Why do we do it?

To develop ethical understanding of fair trade so that the actual workers are paid the wages they deserve rather than making huge profits for the multinational companies. Gradually the concept of Fairtrade is more in the public consciousness.

How Does it work?

At present we have a team of 4 comprising of: Rosemary Blackbee, Angela Craven, David Durston and Gay Durston.

We also have occasional help from Dianna Iller.

Gay oversees the organisational aspects, dates, and ordering.

Where?

The stall is set up at the back of church on Sundays

When?

We aim to run the stall twice a month from 11.00am to 11.30am, and during Summer festivals - this depends on Weddings and personal commitments as the Stall is set up on a Saturday.

What do we sell?

Food items including chocolate (a great favourite), pasta, tea and coffee, greetings cards, gift items, and even toilet roll!

Two catalogues are produced each year, the catalogues contain an order form or alternatively you can write your order on a piece of paper and give it to Gay Durston - don't forget to include the following details

  • Name
  • Telephone Number
  • Order & page number

If your items are in stock you should recieve your items within 2 to 3 weeks.

If you have any suggestions as to how we can improve our service please tell us! Also if anyone would like to help with the running of the stall we would be only to hapy to welcome you to the team.

Many thanks to St John's fellowship for their support.

The church's tea, coffee and toilet rolls are supplied by Traidcraft.
