In what ways do we think of Jesus' disciples as people like us?

God in the neighbourhood

I always find it a comfort that they were often as confused as me!

Behind every confused disciple...?

I think this one's easier for the men! I thank God I'm not in a culture where I'd have to be excluded, or at best peripheral, because I'm female.

But I guess the 21st century didn't invent all the stresses and tensions we live with. I'd love to know how they 'grew' as people over the 3 years with Jesus. Shame the gospels largely leave us guessing about the group dynamic, and about the family connections, and how they worked /didn't work /developed...

Perhaps, like with the 'how Jesus prayed' thing, God knew we'd only go and reduce it all to a 'one size fits few' formula if it was all made clear...
