Christmas at St John's offers a host of opportunities to consider the true light at the heart of Christmas. Full details of our Christmas Services are set out below. (Click on "Read full article".) At all services you are free to come & go at any stage. Anybody is welcome to take part, whatever their faith or tradition.
Sunday 20th - 4pm: Carols for All. A festival or carols, candlelight and readings, looking back over the 20 centuries of Christmas celebration which have passed the light of Christmas through generation after generation to us.
CHRISTMAS EVE
3.30pm: Carols for Children. "What is the Light of Christmas?" A fun filled service with carols, stories and christingles for children of all ages. Young children are invited to come dressed as angels, shepherds or wise men and take part in the nativity tableau.
5.00pm: Carols for Children. "What is the Light of Christmas?" A repeat of the 3.30pm service with carols, stories and christingles for children of all ages. Young children are invited to come dressed as angels, shepherds or wise men and take part in the nativity tableau.
10.00pm: Jazz, Beer & Carols. A relaxed celebration of Christmas carols, Christmas cheer and the Christmas story. Drinks will be available at the back of church, or bring your own.
11.30pm: Midnight Communion. A peaceful and traditional transition into Christmas Day, with popular carols, Christmas readings and Holy Communion.
CHRISTMAS DAY
8.00am: Holy Communion. A traditional early morning communion as Christmas has been celebrated in Hillingdon for centuries.
10.00am: Christmas Family Communion. A relaxed and informal celebration of the birth of Jesus, with carols, communion and the Christmas story.
