Thursday Housegroup - Brenda Thomas
Our Group continues to meet fortnightly and will always welcome new members and/or visitors We have studied and discussed the lives of Hosea, Elijah and Samuel from reading the Bible (several versions) and finding our own references, and have continued with books I and II Samuel to study David in more depth. We had a break to attend St John’s Lent course. The highlights: meeting, sharing, learning and laughing together and our many and various “red herrings”
Tuesday Housegroup - George Pinnell
We meet twice a month at Margaret Newton’s home from 2-00 till 3-30 We always start with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuit. The last year we have each chosen a reading from the bible that we particularly like and discussed what it means to us. And at the moment we are looking at the Beatitudes and what it means for us in the world of today. We also have looked at some of the monthly themes and shared our thoughts on them. Time is also spent on praying for those who are sick and unable to be with us. On behalf of all the Tuesday Group thank you Margaret for making us so welcome
Sports & Social Club - Jim & Sue Tongue
The St John's Sports & Social Club continues to thrive with a small but keen nucleus of members. Badminton remains the favourite pastime with table-tennis a close second .Quizzes are also a pastime during the break for refreshments and when not on court. We play in the church-hall every Tuesday from 8pm-10pm and would welcome any new members. There is no age limit or skill needed, some of our present group are very old and have no skill at all (but don’t tell them I said so!).We have a mixture of church members and other local workers and retirees so you are sure to fit in. At Festival time we run a table tennis tournament so why not come along and get some practice!
